DMD Probe required for interfacing with all DMD (Dot Matrix Display) type pinball machines.

This DMD probe is designed to work on all DMDs and is compatible with ColorDMD. It has been tested on the following DMD models:

  • WPC-89
  • WPC-95
  • WPC-S
  • Stern Whitestar
  • Stern SAM
  • Stern Spike 1
  • Sega (128×32 and 192×64)
  • Data East
  • Capcom
  • Gottlieb System 3

DMD Probe

This probe is designed to be used exclusively with the Scorbitron. It sits in the display path for DMD (Dot Matrix Display) pinball machines, sending the data to the Scorbitron. The Scorbitron then passes the data back to the probe, which in turn drives the display.

The advantage of this probe is that it allows the Scorbitron to display messages on DMD displays when appropriate. However, this also means that if the probe is disconnected, the display will turn off.

This DMD Probe is required for interfacing with the following types of DMD pinball machines:

  • WPC-89

This probe has a 14 pin input connector and 14 pin output connector. It connects directly to the DMD connector output on the machine's MPU or display board. The original ribbon cable plugs into the DMD connector on the probe. It may be extended with a 14-pin male-to-female adapter cable in cases of unusual fit, though it has been tested to work in the default configurations without adapting.

This probe has also been tested and is compatible with ColorDMD displays of all types.
